Monocacy Valley Chapter Newsletter

As you will see in the current Newsletter (Vol. 2 Issue 1) …..the volunteers of the Monocacy Valley Chapter, NWTF, have been very busy and have been spending much time on our future (our YOUTH) – via mentored hunts, Jakes event/youth field day, scholarships, National Archery in Schools Program, etc. etc.

We appreciate your continued interest and support and we hope you will mark your calendar NOW for our Annual Banquet on Saturday, September 8, 2018 – lots of great food, fellowship, prizes, raffles, live and silent auctions, home décor, guns, etc. Perhaps you can help us with the planning; provide or obtain a donation (cash or item); underwrite an auction item; help at the event or simply support our event via your attendance. Your support, at whatever level, helps the NWTF and our local chapter to continue doing what we do for others. Your donations are tax deductible under our IRS 501(c3) status.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Note: Our Newsletter is distributed several times a year. If, at any time, you wish to be removed from the email list, simply let us know.

If you are not part of the NWTF, or are not in our area and you wish to be part of this great conservation organization

You are welome to read about us here.

About the NWTF

On March 28, 1973, the Commonwealth of Virginia issued incorporation papers to a fledgling organization in Fredericksburg called the National Wild Turkey Federation.

The NWTF has come a long way since its founding chief executive, Tom Rodgers, took $440 out of his own pocket to put this organization in motion. Now, the NWTF is the leader in upland wildlife conservation in North America. A non-profit organization dedicated to the Conservation of the Wild Turkey and the Preservation of our Hunting Heritage, the NWTF and its volunteers work closely with state, federal and provincial agencies and other partners.

Through these dynamic partnerships, the NWTF and its members helped to restore the wild turkey populations throughout North America, spending more than $317 Million Dollars to conserve nearly 17 Million Acres of Habitat. Wild Turkeys and hundreds of other species of upland wildlife, including Grouse, Quail, Whitetail Deer, Pheasant, and songbirds benefit from this improved habitat.

Good Times, Great Cause

Each year, thousands of NWTF Members and volunteers flock to banquet halls and civic centers across North America to share stories, a meal, and Common Goals - Conserving Wildlife and Protecting our Hunting Heritage. And you're invited to join them!

If you have never attended a Hunting Heritage Banquet you're in for a treat. You'll find games, raffles, and auctions with chances to win Exclusive Limited Edition NWTF Merchandise and Firearms. Plus, you'll be surrounded by a fellowship of like-minded sportsmen and sportswomen sharing a common cause - Wildlife Conservation .

If you have attended a Hunting Heritage Banquet we welcome you back and encourage you to bring a friend. If not, make the next closest banquet your first.

Please visit The NWTF website or call 1 800 THE-NWTF to find a banquet in your area.

Join The Flock

It's through the grassroots efforts of chapter members that the NWTF has become a leader in conservation. The more members we have, the stronger our message and impact will be on hunting and conservation

With your support, we can make a difference by improving habitat, creating more places to hunt, and promoting our Hunting Traditions through NWTF Outreach Programs.

Our Outreach Programs include:

  • Regular Annual Members
Men who make up the majority of our memberships and are a large part of our Volunteer Force
  • WITO Women In The Outdoors
This outreach program aims to introduce outdoor activites to our women members. These activites are focused on wildlife conservation, hunting and shooting activites. Many are not shooting related, but help to promote outdoor activites for women.
  • Wheelin' Sportsmen
This program works to get disabled men and women into outdoor activites including turkey and deer hunting, shooting, archery, fishing and more.
Many of our chapters hold Wheelin'Sportsmen Hunts frequently hosting many of our Wounded Warriors
  • JAKES - Juniors Aquiring Knowledge, Ethics, and Sportsmanship
The Jakes program introduces our youth to conservation and our hunting heritage. Jakes Field Days provide activities to teach conservation, turkey calling, hunting, and gun safety. Extreme Jakes qualify to compete for Local, State, and National College Scholarships in their Senior Year in High School. Click Here for Scholarship Info
